We are pleased to announce that we have acquired the Spanish license for The Match of the Century , a 30-minute game for 2 players, designed by Paolo Mori (Ethnos, Libertalia) and with art by Klemens Franz .
The Game of the Century is a tactical game with bluffing mechanics and a card engine that recreates what is considered by many to be the best chess game in history, which pitted Boris Spassky against Bobby Fischer in the midst of the Cold War.
Synopsis:
In the summer of 1972, the World Chess Championship final was held in Reykjavik, where the decisive showdown took place: American Bobby Fischer challenged the reigning world champion, Soviet Boris Spassky, aiming to end 24 years of Soviet dominance in the World Championship. Hailed by the media as the most important sporting event of the Cold War, it unfolded as an unparalleled thriller, fueled by political tension, high-level competition, and the emotions of those involved.
Take on the roles of Spassky and Fischer and bring this historic moment to life. As you play unique cards from your asymmetric deck, multiple short, tense chess games will be simulated. The first player to reach 6 points (each win and each draw is worth 1 point) will win the title and become a chess legend.
The Game of the Century is scheduled to go on sale in stores in mid-October, coinciding with the worldwide launch of the game in English and German.
