We're excited to announce the release of Thingstead , a 2-player game from acclaimed designer Scott Almes (Preserves, Tiny Epic Saga, Claim, Animal Island). Thingstead features majority control, hand management, and multi-use cards, and has an estimated playtime of 30 minutes.
The game is illustrated by Jorge Tabanera, who also lent his artistry and magic to another game from the publisher: Conservas . Graphic design is by Joao Duarte Silva , one of our regular contributors.
The game is already at the printers and the plan is to present it at the Essen Fair 2024. You can purchase a copy, along with Operation Barclay, through our Gamefound campaign at the following link: https://gamefound.com/en/projects/saltandpepper/operation-barclay
The year is 1130. In your Viking village, an assembly is about to be held to elect a new king, and your victorycould be threatened by your opponent. As the days go by, you will have to divide your time between the clans andthe circle of sages to receive the votes that will secure your election. At the end of the game, the sages will vote andchoose a winner.
In Thingstead you must select a card from your hand and decide whether to play it in the council of sages, to try to influence one of the 7 sages, or in the clan zone to gain more followers and obtain special powers that will help you throughout the game.
If you play the card in the circle of sages, you can use the card to move and try to influence one of the sages, but to achieve this you must take into account the position of your rival, and in this way optimize your turn.
You can choose to play the card in one of the four clans. These will provide you with the followers you need to influence the sages, and depending on their color, you can also gain temporary or game-long effects that will be vital to winning.
When one of the players manages to block 3 sages, it will trigger the end of the game and the scoring will begin.
