September 1939: The commander of the Admiral Graf Spee receives orders to sink as many British cargo ships as possible in the South Atlantic. The objective is to intercept ships crossing the Atlantic and prevent supplies from reaching the United Kingdom and other destinations.
The plan seemed to work in the first few months. Within weeks, the Admiral Graf Spee sank nine cargo ships and sent almost 50,000 gross registered tons to the bottom of the sea. This enormous loss put the military command at Whitehall in London under immense pressure. To best protect its cargo ships, the Admiralty had no choice but to reinforce the British fleet in the South Atlantic by sending three cruisers in what became known as the Battle of the River Plate.
The Hunt is an asymmetrical duel in which one player assumes the leadership of the British Royal Navy, while the other represents the German Kriegsmarine. Each player has their own deck of cards. For the German side to win, they must remain hidden from the British while sinking five freighters. The British player must then hunt down and fight the Admiral Graf Spee in a final naval battle, with the side that sustains the least damage emerging victorious.
Will the Royal Navy be able to take advantage of its numerical superiority, or will the Kriegsmarine, with its cunning and refined strategy, manage to overthrow its rival?
